SATURDAY SCENES: NOT SO COLD, WITH A COLD FEAT #5THNYC
Last winter, I got a really terrible sinus infection that knocked me off my feet and off the bike for a few days. I was paranoid of losing precious training time, but then came across a great article from Cycling Tips about training with a cold/flu. I revisit it every time I catch a cold — simply to remind me to stay smart, and stay slow. Here’s my favorite pointers from the Cycling Tips article:

  • "If it’s above the neck - it’s okay to train. If it’s below the neck - rest up."
  • "It’s always better to be under-trained and healthy than over-trained but sick."

Luckily, it’s not the flu and is above the neck, so I headed out this morning with Gang Green. I was proud of myself for resisting the temptation to hammer to make up for lost time, and kept it mega slow. Here’s to good health and weather, boys and girls.

It’s funny, I don’t crave the big mountains of Europe as adventure for me has to exist beyond those hours on the bike....
