SOLO SPIN: RIVER ROAD
“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are ..” - Ernest Hemingway

010212: Central Park (again)
Dear Fellow New York Cyclist,
Never forget how fortunate you are to live near amazing places to ride your bike. Always remember that people travel from all over the world to visit the park that you ride laps around every week. You, my fellow New Yorker, are lucky as fuck. Don’t ever forget that. I know I won’t.
Sincerely, Angelo

It’s getting brisk out there. The high was 26 degrees with the wind chill factor, and it’s about that time where the fingers begin to get numb and the eyes get watery after about an hour on the saddle. Regardless, we suck it up and spin. I was going to attempt to write something worthy of expressing my love/hate for the cold season riding, but then I came across some wise words from...

SATURDAY SPIN: PIERMONT
Don’s homies are in town, so while we were out on Friday night, he decided that we would take them on a ride to Piermont the next morning, since they also brought their bikes along. Sixty miles logged - longest ride to date for me since returning from the injury.

TUESDAY RIDE: BEAT THE RAIN
Random weekdays off has it’s benefits - Empty supermarkets, more accessible washers and driers, and lastly, very minimal traffic when pedaling in the parks. Luckily, I was able to start early enough to beat the rain this morning and get three laps in. With that said, it’s laundry time. Ride safe and stay dry out there today New York.

TGIF: RIVER ROAD
It’s December, and still in the 50’s. Took the day off to take advantage of the nicer weather while it still exists. River Road/Alpine Climb for the second time in a week. My body hates me, and it’s starting to get brisk. Here’s to a lazy weekend.

FROM THE FANS: NOCA’S CUSTOM TRACK Noca, a reader from Portugal just sent me his newly built custom track bike. He went ahead and got his hands on some Easton Scandium tubes, partnered with a local framebuilder, and got his steed up and running.
Based on the photos, I think you can guess what bike he had in mind in terms of inspiration. Thanks for sharing Noca.

SUNDAY STROLL 11-27-11
Still hurting from yesterday’s ride. Luckily, we took it easy today and stayed local here in Brooklyn. Brunch at Kinfolk, a mini tarck sessions, and a loop around Prospect Park with the homies Mat and Jonathan was rad. Thanks for the awesome weather yet again mother nature.
